Artistic Statement

Artistic Illustration by April Williams

Artistic Statement

I created this project using Canva. I searched up a blank piece of paper sideways and chose it. For the picture, it mostly shows what can happen in nature. It could be beautiful, it can be home to creatures, and you could explore around. On the other side, nature could also be destroyed by fire/other things, removing home for creatures, and removing the beautiful things you could’ve explored. I mostly created this piece from shapes that you could pick out from Canva. Some parts of the hand and bird were drawn. For example, a square, triangle, circle, half circle, etc. The picture has grass, dirt, trees, wood, clouds, a sun, a bird, and the person holding the bird. I use squares to make the tree wood, and the triangles to make the leaves. I also used a triangle for the shadows of the leaves, and a square for the shadow of the wood. I also added two squares at the bottom of the tree that matched the color of the grass. I did that so the tree looks more realistic, instead of the bottom looking flat, for most of the trees. I used some gradient colors for the trees and the sky. I added two clouds on the left side, (one you can’t see cause the bird/hand is covering it). I also added a sun on the top middle. On the left side, there are trees that are burnt, and the sky is red-yellow. I changed the color of the grass to brown to make it look like dirt. I used the same shapes as last time, just without the leaves and with different colors. I mostly used squares and half circles for the hand and fingers, and drew some parts of the shadow for the hand. For the bird, I used a triangle, a half circle, some squares, and circles. I drew the bird’s wing by myself, and some part of the beak and eyes.
