Entertainment Review
“The Notebook,” released in 2004 and directed by Nick Cassavetes is a timeless love story. The film includes Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling as Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun. They are two star crossed lovers who fall deeply in love during their summer in Seabrook, South Carolina. Unfortunately, the two come from completely different backgrounds and social stances, which puts a strain on their relationship.
The structure of the movie intertwines with the later lives of Allie and Noah in the nursing home because of Allie’s dementia, played by Gena Rowlands and James Garner. The timeline helps portray their everlasting love for each other, despite the obstacles they face during their whole relationship. It’s not just a typical romance novel, the time, details, and commitment make it so much more.
Many actresses and actors were chosen for the main roles, but ultimately McAdams and Gosling portrayals were exceptional and stood out; they have become iconic in the romance genre. The climax is a tearjerker that is heartbreaking yet also uplifting and leaves the audience feeling the power of true love. The movie is beautifully crafted and can have a positive impact on everyone who watches. “The Notebook” continues to be a favorite and touches the hearts of many.
